Tips Before Cooking

  • Ensure that you wash the vegetables before cutting or peeling so that the vitamins and nutrients are not lost. When you wash the vegetables after cutting you are actually washing away vital nutrients.
  • Always peel the vegetables very thin so that you dont peel off minerals and vitamins present just below the skin.
  • An Apple a Day keeps the doctor away, but a discoloured apple is not favoured by many. So to keep the colour intact just apply a little juice of a lemon on the exposed surface. The apple remains fresh for you to eat.
  • Never throw away the water used during boiling vegetables. This water has the most vital nutrients. Use it for the gravy.
  •  Indian cuisine is incomplete without coriander. But when they dry out, there is no fun in using them. To keep the coriander fresh, put it in a muslin cloth and store in the refrigerator. It remains fresh as ever.
  • When you are dealing with potatoes then ensure that you soak them after cutting so that they don't lose their colour. The same applies to eggplant.
  • So you want to make use of the almonds inthe freezer? But it would take a long time to peel the skin? Never mind. Just soak them for ten minutes and your job is done. The skin comes off easily.
  •  Green chillies form the core of Indian cuisine. But they wither away fast. To keep them fresh, take off their stems as this way it remains fresh for a longer time.
  • Who doesnt like to get away from cutting onions? NOone likes to cry. But now, your onion tears can dry for if you soak the onions for ten minutes before cutting, you are sure to smile your way through.
  • Are you the one who shirks work in the kitchen? Then obviously anything out of corn might not be in your cook list? Well drive away your fears of peeling corn corbs. For all that you have to do is hold it upright and run a knife along it vertically. Voila! your cobs fall down on easily. Make sure you place the corn on a tray or a plate .
  • The plain newspaper keeps your fruit fresh in the refirgerator for a longer time.
  • While cutting dry fruits, make sure you freeze them. Then take a knife and dip it in hot water and then cut them. Your job is easier.
